The most prominent role for this actor, who was born way back during America’s prohibition (1921), was the title role of this show, Belvedere. Hewett was British by birth so the role of the British nanny fit him like a glove. The show ran until 1990, after which Hewett kept busy until the end of his life, mostly in TV series roles. After 80 years on earth, in 2001, diabetes finally took Hewett’s life.
