There Are 25 Secrets About Bewitched You Never Knew

12. Pearce’s Emmy

Playing the annoying character next door can be fun, but one doesn’t expect audiences to like the character. That’s what makes the nosy neighbor interesting; it’s the bad guy (gal) without all the evilness. Pierce did it so well, she won over audiences enough to earn a posthumous Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. She’d been gone two months when the Emmy’s aired, her role filled by Sandra Gould. The cast of Bewitched was still in mourning, making the ceremony an emotional event.

11. Costumes

When a noob actor starts out in regional theater performances, it’s normal to furnish parts or the whole of one’s wardrobe. Hollywood spends big money on wardrobes, but when they filmed Bewitched, the supporting actors would often provide their own costumes. They would bring in clothing a week before filming. The wardrobe would clean and press their clothes, then make them available for the episode. At the end of the day, they could go home in their costumes. That’s one way to save on production costs.
