18. Simple Weddings
Once the courtship is over, you’ve spent a night of pillow talk, then the two young Amish lovers consummate their mutual commitments in a simple ceremony. There may be a few family members present, but no flowers, wedding bands, or champaign toasts. These are all considered symbols of vanity, not commitment.
17. Square Honeymoons
The opportunity to vacation in the Caribbean passed when an Amish practitioner returned from Rumspringa and accepted the baptism. Honeymoons are an all-expense paid trip to the Bride’s parent’s home, but bundle-free this time, because…. you know, babies and stuff. Hope those walls are thick.
