Eddie Murphy is one of the funniest comedians of all time, especially during his years doing stand-up. It seemed like every word that came out of his mouth had comedic weight behind it. Which is probably why the Donkey character from Shrek was one of everyone’s favorite. Murphy told reporters that the reason Donkey was so loved was because he was such an optimist. Murphy also went on to say that while it might seem like Donkey is not the most intelligent being, he’s actually quite wise. If you watch the film, Donkey is always the one that is helping Shrek get back on track and to look at each situation from a different perspective.
