Yes You Did Do That: 25 Reveals About “Family Matters”

2. The Theme Song

For the first season, the theme song of the show was “What a Wonderful World,” as sung by Luis Armstrong, which was odd. The show was part of a family of shows—Full House, Step by Step, and Perfect Strangers—all which featured theme songs composed by singer-songwriter Jesse Fredrick. By the ‘90s, Fredrick had enjoyed a long career of composing for sitcoms dating back to the 1970s. Whatever the delay, by season two Family Matters joined the rest of its own family. The theme song, “As Days Go By,” became the song for the remainder of the seasons.
