10. Step by Step
Another popular situational comedy of the ‘90s, Step by Step, took place in Port Washington, Wisconsin. That’s just up the road from Chicago. In one episode of Family Matters, Urkel designed a jetpack to help him win a rope-climbing contest. When he engaged the jetpack, he flew off the set of Family Matters, landing on the set of Step by Step. That show was a modern incarnation of the Brady Bunch formula, white American divorcees remarrying with their respective kids. Everything was pleasant in Port Washington until a nerd fell out of the sky on the family picnic table., Much Silliness ensued. Urkel sticks around for the whole episode, long enough to attend the Port Washington school dance and teach everyone the famous Urkel dance.
