11. Cancellation of Wonderama

By 1977, the three-hour show was only two. The ratings had plummeted, and the host of the show was disgruntled. Bob McAllister, the second and longest-running host of the show, had taken out an ad in The New York Times. In it, he asked viewers to stop watching. The network had aired an ad during the show for a Charles Bronson film, “The Mechanic.” McAllister didn’t feel it was appropriate. The show went off the air shortly after that.
