Tombstone: Behind the Scenes of the Modern Western

1. Kurt Russel

While there were many moving parts of success to Tombstone, most agree that without Russel, the film would not have been what it was. A child actor, Russel’s career didn’t really take off until the ‘80s, around the time he met the love of his life. Unlike many Hollywood couples, Russel and Goldie Hawn remain together after all these years. Russel has continued to act too, more recently in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” but also in the movie “The Hateful Eight.” In that western, directed by Quentin Tarantino, he played a fitting role as John Ruth, another gun-slinging cowboy. Russel might not have the resume of Charlton Heston, not yet, but his story isn’t over. Look for him in the 2030 remake of “Tombstone.” It could happen.
