4. Charlton Heston

Younger audiences today will hardly recognize the significance of Heston’s presence on the set of “Tombstone.” The venerable actor passed in 2008 after a long career of bigger than life Hollywood roles, many of which were westerns. It was a huge notch in Jarre’s belt to attach Heston’s name to the script. Heston’s role, rancher Henry Hooker, Jarre wrote specifically with the actor in mind. Interestingly, both Hooker and Heston lived about eight decades (79 and 84, respectively) about 100 years apart. Hooker passed in 1907, Heston in 2008.
