Tombstone: Behind the Scenes of the Modern Western

6. George Cosmatos

Jarre’s replacement, George Cosmatos, walked into a tough situation. The crew and studio found Jarre frustrating, and the cast was sad to see him go. Cosmatos wasn’t gonna let that slow him down, according to Sam Elliott. “George [came] up to me with his dark glasses, looking up at me from the top of his glasses, sticking his nose right in my face,” Elliott told American Cowboy. “… He said, ‘Am I gonna have trouble with you?’… I just looked him right back in the eye and said, ‘I don’t know, am I gonna have trouble with you?’” The two laughed about the exchange and moved on with the production.
