7. All About the Script

While it’s true, a good actor can do a lot with a bad script, there’s only so much one can do with a bad story. Jarre’s script was neither of those things. The story and the lines were what snagged the big name actors. Kilmer bought on when he read one line in the script, “I’m your huckleberry.” Kilmer asked Jarre where he came up with it. “… He didn’t have a specific answer,” Kilmer told American Cowboy. “But I loved it. It just seemed to be the odd, perfect statement for the scene—‘You’ve met your match.’”
