That Time a French Photographer Stumbled Into Hitler’s Bunker

Inside

The first thing inside the doorway was a long hallway. There were rooms off the hall, but it was otherwise boring from there. Askat would find so much once he started to explore. The bunker was more than this. Most of the interesting parts remained below ground. All told, there was a labyrinth of tunnels stretching some six miles underground.

Engineering Marvel

To see it today, it’s a dilapidated structure, but what remains tells the story of what once was. In its heyday, this was something impressive. One can imagine high-ranking Nazi officers commanding and planning deep underground. Outside, patrols kept the men inside safe from the Allies. It’s all so haunting.
