Translated, it means military ground defense to enter. Ironic, since this is where historians believe Hitler plotted his offensive (not defensive) attack of Great Britain. Perhaps it was Hitler who coined the phrase, “the best defense is a good offense.” While the Germans controlled much of western Europe at one time, taking out the British were a whole different kind of undertaking. Needless to say, Hitler did not succeed in even trying.
