This might be a difficult thing to wrap your head around, but there was a time when the show we know now as Happy Days,\ was almost something entirely different. According to reports, Garry Marshall was originally asked to direct a show that was based in the 1920’s and 1930’s. However, Marshall turned down the offer saying he knew nothing about the “flapper era,” and instead offered to write and direct a show based on the 50’s since that’s the era he grew up.
