Any television show that involves horses will likely have a few stuntmen on the payroll, even if it was the 1950’s when riding a horse was far more popular. One of the most significant stuntmen on The Rifleman was Archie Bunker. As a matter of fact, Bunker appeared in more episodes than any other actor on the show, not including the core cast. Bunker had a background in the rodeo circuit and he used those skills quite often on the show. Anytime there was a scene involving a horse that wasn’t exactly a close-up, Bunker was the man for the job.
