7. The Race Card in O.J.’s Case
O.J. Simpson’s trial followed a series of incidents in which L.A. police officers allegedly mistreated members of the black community without criminal punishment. This most famously included the Rodney King incident.
Cochran used these incidents to convince the jurors that police were trying to frame O.J. Simpson because he was a successful black man. To help repair O.J.’s reputation within the black community, Cochran even redecorated Simpson’s house to include things like more pictures of O.J. with black individuals.
