The Istana Nurul Iman Palace belongs to the Sultan of Brunei and is the largest palace in the entire world. It’s also considered the largest single-family residence in history. To give you an idea of the scale of this massive place, it’s reported to have over 51,000 light bulbs scattered throughout the 1,788 rooms and 257 bathrooms. The total floor space of the property is over 2 million square feet. The palace was built in 1984 for a staggering $1.4 billion.
