As her time with the Marines wound down, Ihrke started to think about her future. She had an unfinished degree waiting for her and her old life in Walker. Before she could decide which direction she would go, she submitted herself for Maxim’s girls next door issue on a lark. When Maxim responded with interest, Ihrke got excited. It seemed there may be more than one option than retreating to St. Cloud. The lark had turned in her favor. Maxim not only put her in the issue, they put her on the cover. “I can’t believe the Marine who used to yell at me to clean my room is on the cover of Maxim,” said one of her fellow Marines according to the Daily Mail.
