Man of Many Talents
Connors was an original member of the first Boston Celtics team in 1946. Some reports actually give him the distinction of being the first player to shatter a backboard. After his time with the Celtics, he switched gears and started playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Shortly after that, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs where he played first base. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Connors was also drafted by the Chicago Bears of the National Football League, although he never actually suited up.
