Composed by Earle Hagen and Herbert Spencer, the song heard at the beginning of every episode was germane to the experience. The whistler during the song was Earle Hagan. There were lyrics too, but they never used them for the show. Supposedly, Andy Griffith made a recording of the song with the lyrics once.
