Howard MacNear played Floyd the barber. During the course of the show, the actor suffered a stroke, debilitating his left side. He could barely stand. Rather than replace him, producers built a special chair for him to lean on when working in the shop. Otherwise, we saw him seated outside the shop on a bench.
