History Altering: What Archeologists Unearthed at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello Property

8. Mulberry Row

In 2015, The Mountaintop Project restored what they call Mulberry Row in Monticello, a section of the property where slaved once lived. They opened this section to the public, allowing people to get a glimpse into the outdoor spaces where Jefferson’s slaves lived. To commemorate the opening, more then 100 descendants of slaves who once lived there showed up to plant a commemorative tree.
