11. Restoration
Now that that the people behind the Monticello project have identified where Sally’s room was, they’ve begun the process of restoration. They will restore this room as a tourist attraction. “For the first time at Monticello,” said Mia Magruder Dammann, spokesperson for the project, “we have a physical space dedicated to Sally and her life. It is significant because it connects the entire African American arch at Monticello.” This cements the belief that Sally and Jefferson carried on as lovers.
