The metro below the towers
Under the towers was something of a maze of underground shops and tunnels. The damage from the tower collapse plowed all the way down into the metro, disabling part of that line for years. The cost to remove the 1.8-million tons of debris was $750-million and about 3.1 millions labor hours. That’s not including the cost to rebuild.
