In the wake of Friends, David Schwimmer turned into something of a meme, likely connected to his role as the whiny character on the show, Ross. Behind the camera, David Schwimmer was no joke. He directed ten episodes of Friends. While he stayed busy after the show went off the air, his on-camera persona suffered until 2016, when he played Robert Kardashian in the Netflix series American Crime Story.

One of the more fantastic reports about the Friends’ cast was about their incomes. While it’s true that they did get to the $1-million mark, where each cast member made $1-million per show, they started at a paltry $22,000 per show. So, how did they each climb $978,000? They did it together, entering into a collective bargain, whereby each cast member would reap an equal and higher salary. As the network couldn’t replace them all and couldn’t afford to lose the revenue made from advertisers, the cast held all the cards. Don’t worry, the network still made plenty of money.
