11. LeBlanc Becomes Joey

It is an endless debate amongst thespians, does the role mold to the actor or the actor to the role? The truth somewhere in the soft squishy middle. In the case of Joey, actor Matt LeBlanc imposed much of himself on the role, pushing the dopey character in ways that producers hadn’t intended. For Friends, it made the character seem more three-dimensional. For LeBlanc, it made it hard to see him in any other role. When the show ended, his next big character was Joey in the self-titled show, Joey.
