One of the biggest names associated with “Mr. Belvedere” was Robert Goulet. He played a tough character: himself. That’s right, Robert Goulet played Robert Goulet on the show. Born in 1933, Goulet started out performing at age 13. He was on “Howdy Doody” in 1954 and worked consistently until his passing in 2007. Audiences knew Goulet for his straight delivery, perfect for comedies like “Beetlejuice,” “Scrooged,” and “Naked Gun 2 1/2.” Goulet was 73 when he passed away, a victim of pulmonary fibrosis.
