8. When They Finally Pulled the Plug

For much of the 1990s, Lamb Chop’s Play-Along scored points with parents and critics alike. It steeled its position as iconic children’s show, even as the popularity of the show suffered a decline. By the late ’90s, ratings were low enough that PBS had no choice but to pull the plug. A year later, Shari won an Emmy for the show in the category of Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series, it was that good. PBS continued to rerun the recorded episodes until 1997. What remains to be seen is if we’ll see Lamb Chop on TV again…
