4. Downplayed Beauty

We’ve touched on this a bit, but because the character of Felicity was supposed to be unattractive, Keri Russell actually tried to downplay her beauty during her first audition. She really wanted the part, so when she went in to read lines, Keri donned an oversized sweater and slicked back her hair into a bun. It was also mostly she didn’t want to be placed in the part of Maya – Felicity’s beautiful best friend.
J.J. Abrams still almost didn’t give Keri the part. She acted so well, however, that he changed his mind and gave her the part after all.
