Because Escobar had to bury a great deal of money all over Columbia, he had to assume there was going to be some loss. But as we’ve made very clear, Escobar had no shortage of money. According to law enforcement’s best estimates, Escobar lost as much as 10% of his wealth to “spoilage.” They went on to say that they believe it was rats that likely consumed a great deal of that percentage. For the record, say that $30 billion number was correct, that’s $3 billion lost to rats!

Luxury Prison

Pablo did spend some time in prison, but it wasn’t in the normal sense of the word. As a matter of fact, his “prison” was more like a luxury resort than it was a standard prison. It was such a special place that it quickly picked up the nickname, “La Catedral,” otherwise known as The Cathedral.
