17. It Featured The First On-TV Toilet
Before shows like Leave it to Beaver, it wasn’t “couth” to show bodily functions on screen, or even imply them. One episode of Leave it to Beaver was actually censored by the Federal Communications Commission when it showed a toilet on screen. The toilet was shown in an episode when Wally and Beaver tried to keep a baby alligator in the toilet tank. The show producers finally came to a compromise with the FCC by showing only the toilet tank, and not the bowl. Good thing, too. The episode was ranked #42 on TV Guide’s 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time!
