10. Offscreen Antics Made Their Way To The Big Screen

More times than not, everything that happens in a movie is meticulously scripted. But every so often there are a few improv moments that make it to the big screen. One of those moments in Jaws was actually inspired by something that happened off screen. The scene where Brody is sitting at the dinner table with his family and his son mimics his father’s movements for example. That actually happened off screen between Jay Mello, the child actor that played the son, and Schieder. Spielberg happened to see this take place and he liked it so much that he recreated it and put it in the film.
