20. Rarely Seen Or Heard

The star of the film Jaws, is of course a massive Great White Shark that terrorizes a small beach town. However, you don’t actually see the star in action until almost three-quarters of the way through the film. You might think it was intended that way to build up the suspense. But the real reason was the mechanical shark Steven Spielberg had built rarely worked how it was intended to.

19. Captain Ahab Put His Foot Down

Like many other aspects of the movie, Spielberg had something very specific in mind when shooting it. For example, he wanted the scene that introduced the character of “Quint” to take place in a movie theater where he would be causing a ruckus while watching the film Moby Dick. The problem was that Gregory Peck, who played the part of Captain Ahab, owned the rights to the film adaptation of Moby Dick. And even though the scene had already been shot, Peck put his foot down and would not allow the use of the footage which forced Spielberg to leave the scene on the cutting room floor.
