18. The Cast Members Were No Angels Either

In fairness to Judy Tyler, there is something about working in the repressed environment of children that brings out the raunchy. When they weren’t filming episodes, the cast enjoyed putting the puppets in compromising adult situations, sometimes acting out sex scenes. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but the children taking tours of the set found the scenes confusing.

17. Buffalo Bob Suffered no Scandals

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Smith lived the dream of the wholesome American. He married his high school sweetheart. They were together for 50 years. The worst thing they did was drink, evidenced by a little ditty Bob wrote for her one time. “It’s martini time. It’s martini time,” went his song to the tune of the Howdy Doody theme song. “Just mix vermouth and gin and drop an olive in. Now that our work is done, it’s time to have some fun. No sense of feeling low. So gang, let’s go.”
