18. No Fraternization, No Exceptions
Oh, crew members can do whatever they want on their own sliver of personal time, as long as it doesn’t involve the guests. One is more likely to socialize on the clock than off, in a professional fashion only. Off the clock, the crew does not interact with guests. Other than a polite how do you do?, there is a whole ship of other passengers for guests to engage. Crew hangs out with the crew. This protects the business and reputation of the cruise line. Break this rule and you may fly home with your final check at the next port.
17. Crew Members Do It All The Time
The guests are off limits, but other crew members are playing on the same field. The management might not condone it. They may even try to avert it, but crew frequently sleep together in a not-very-sleepy kind of way. Like the drinking, as long as nobody in the common areas is aware of your whoring ways, your business is your business. In fact, good luck trying to stop love-starved, overworked, drunk sea men and women from testing the motion of the ocean.
