7. No Days Off
The downside to all the income is there is no downtime, but for a few hours for sleeping, eating, and unwinding after a shift. Even then, one may have to spring into action in the event of an emergency. On the ship, there is no escape from one’s role. Many cruise employees stagger their time at sea, rotating out after a certain number of days at sea. Then they can travel or spend some of their money, but eventually, it’s back on board unless they want to start a new career.
