20. Sometimes It Only Takes One Day

One of the most memorable scenes in the film was the moment when Baby leaps into Johnny’s waiting arms to pull off the perfect lift. You might be surprised to know that scene was shot in just one day, and more importantly without any rehearsal. That’s right, in 2015 Jennifer Grey recounted the iconic scene and told reporters, “I only did it on the day I shot it. Never rehearsed it, never done it since.”

More times than not, movies are only made with the help of sponsors. Dirty Dancing, of course, was in the same boat. Granted the film was shot on a very tight budget, but they still had help from many different sponsors. However, one in particular ended up pulling out early due to some of the risque scenes in the film. Specifically, the one where Penny talks about her abortion. Apparently, the acne cream company decided to back out because they were concerned about how it might affect their bottom line. Obviously, they should’ve stuck with it because the film made a fortune.
