15. Fifth Generation Submarines
Whether they have the money to build them or not, according to The National Interest, Russia is developing their fifth class of subs. The new subs, the Yasen class of subs, will network with each other and an army of submarine drones. The plan is that they will incorporate modern robotics in every way possible, automating the functionality of the fifth class of subs. Believe it or not, they actually started developing these subs in the ‘80s under the former Soviet Union. The prototype, the K-560 Severodvinsk, they began building in 1993. Don’t lose sleep on this one, though. They don’t have the cash.
