20. Knotts Went to School
When Don Knotts completed his duty to his country, he attended West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown. WVU is quite a prestigious school, having produced 24 Rhodes Scholars, 22 Truman Scholars, and 36 Goldwater Scholars. Knotts earned his bachelor’s degree in education but also graduated in 1948 with a minor in speech.
19. He Was a Frat Boy
At West Virginia, Knotts wasn’t the student one might imagine, bumbling along and dropping books. He may have dropped a few books, not because he was an outcast, but for entertainment. Knotts was a proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, which dated back to 1873 at the Massachusetts Agricultural College in Amherst.
