Because audiences wanted it and so did Griffith, the old gang from Mayberry reprised their famous roles in a 1986 reunion of The Andy Griffith Show: Return To Mayberry. It wasn’t the show as audiences remembered it, but fans were willing to accept the chance to see the aging characters back together one more time.
