4. The Gravity of Griffith
Andy Griffith eventually made it out of Mayberry too, although he didn’t star in such a diversity of roles as Knotts. His next big gig, Matlock, enjoyed massive popularity, reigniting Griffith’s career, and opening him up to act with Knotts again. Knotts appeared as Les Calhoun on the show, Griffith’s annoying neighbor. For the old friends, it was a perfect excuse to spend more time together.
