8. Then to the Playboy Mansion
In the 1969 movie, The Love God?, Knotts played a playboy, Abner Audubon Peacock IV. It was, to say the least, a wildly offbeat role for the actor. Some would even say the role was a sophisticated one for Knotts. There was less of the bug-eyes and more of the furrowed brow in this one. The movie suffered the death of its director, Nat Hiken, who passed before the movie hit theatres, making this one of the more interesting projects in Knotts’ resume.
