12. Chewbacca Was a Dog
He wasn’t actually a dog, but Lucas based the character on an Alaskan Malamute, and not the breed. He based him on a specific Malamute; his dog named Indiana. This informed how Chewy spoke, but also how he looked, like a Malamute on two-legs. Fans of Harrison Ford’s other famous franchise role in Indiana Jones will remember the famous line from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade about Indiana being the dog’s name. Aha!
