4. Star Wars Started a Revolution
As stated, the expectations for the first film were low, at least from Hollywood’s standpoint. Science fiction wasn’t a winning card at that point. Then, on May 25, 1977, the movie premiered. Worldwide ticket sales exceeded $800-million. Suddenly, everyone wanted to make something like Star Wars. It’s been nearly four decades. The franchise has turned out five films. The last one, The Force Awakens, grossed $2.068-billion in worldwide box office sales.
