6. Carry Fisher Won’t Make it to the End

Most people know that the world said goodbye to Carrie Fisher, the actress who played Princess Leia, in 2016, unexpectedly. The question came up, what to do with her character in the last two films of the current series? Leia wasn’t dead. Could they recreate her digitally the way they did with Peter Cushing? Cushing passed in ’94, but his face still appeared in the last film. The franchise had permission from Cushing’s estate to do that. For Leia’s appearances in the 8th film, with permission from Fisher’s family, they will use a combination of captured footage and technology to end Leia’s story. That said, Leia won’t make it to the 9th installment.
