1. Seinfeld: ‘The Strike’
Festivus for the rest of us. Likely the only religion people actually follow that originates from a TV show. Festivus is the star of ‘The Strike,’ launching one of the greatest holiday episodes of all time. Created by Frank Costanza, Georges dad, Festivus was how he got away from the commercialization of Christmas. It’s a hilarious concept, which George, of course, uses to get out of one of his many lies. In typical Seinfeld fashion, each character has a crazy event happen that in one way or another tie into the underlying theme, Festivus. For instance, Kramer’s return to work after a 12-year strike is cut short when he requests off for Festivus, kickstarting the strike all over again. By the end of the episode, everyone is at the Castanza’s celebrating together ‘the best Festivus ever’.
