8. One Season Too Long
When networks pick up pilots, there’s no telling how long the series will go. With a name like Spelling attached as an executive producer, there’s a good chance the show will get every opportunity to stay afloat for at least seven seasons. Producers of 7th Heaven hoped for a ten-season run. They got it. By the end of season 10, as everyone started to sign yearbooks with “have a great summer,” producers announced the show would go on for one more season. The renewal was a mess for the cast. Many took pay cuts to cover the lowered budget, but they pulled it off.
