9. Collins’ Suicide Attempt
As the story goes… under duress from the overall impact of the tapes, Collins retreated to his home in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. There, he reportedly loaded a gun and attempted… to attempt… to commit suicide. As it turned out, it was a false report called into the LAPD, one that sent cop cars flying into the Valley to investigate. They found an empty Collins home, with no indications that someone fired a gun. Collins was alive, possibly on the other side of the county in New York. He’d recently watched a musical in the big apple, the same town where police were investigating the allegations of his behavior.
