BONUS MATERIAL: POTENTIAL RECORD BEATERS
As we mentioned in the beginning of this article, there are some seriously powerful cars that have been released in the past year, and a few more that have been talked about releasing over the past few years. We wanted to throw a few out that hve the potential of setting a new record if they were to make top speed runs, or actually be built first.
Bugatti Chiron

When the Bugatti Chiron was released earlier this year I must admit I sort of fell in love. I thought it was so much better looking than the outgoing Veyron, and that was by no means an ugly car. Something about the Chiron just really grabbed my attention, I guess it could be that they managed to squeeze an additional 300hp out of the quad-turbo W16 motor bringing the total up to 1,500hp. Bugatti is reporting that they will be making an attempt at the top speed record sometime in 2018. Considering Bugatti has access to the 5.5 mile straight at the Volkswagen Proving Grounds (Ehra-Lessien) that also has steep banked curves I don’t foresee them having any problems breaking the record.
