The Ferrari 288 GTO, or sometimes just referred to as the Ferrari GTO, was designed essentially as a hardcore version of the 308 GTB. The GTO featured a small 2.8L twin turbo V8 that provided an estimated 400hp. It was built to compete in the Group B rally race and required that at least 200 examples built in order to do so. But race organizers were forced to disestablish the series due to the cars being to powerful and unsafe.
